Self Defense

“Your first step in personal safety is a choice!” – Aric Keyes Sensei

I believe that everyone is capable of successfully defending themselves and leading a healthy lifestyle.  If you’re looking at this page, you’ve either already made the decision or are in the process of making the decision to defend yourself.

Our goal is to educate our students about the dangers & threats that are out there and then present the safest and easiest ways to deal with them.  We then train the skills you will need to get out of those situations and regain safety as well as the mindset needed.  That’s right, the mindset needed for self defense is perhaps the most important part of any self defense program and that’s where we start.

Self defense is a life skill that everyone should learn, regardless of where you live.  There may come a time in everyone’s life that you will either wish you had been taught or be thankful that you had been taught how to defend yourself.

1 in 4 women will be victimized before the age of 30.

According to statistics provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, 1 in 4 women will be a victim of sexual assault or rape, the college years being the most dangerous time period.  This is literally the most dangerous time in a young woman’s life and it is extremely important that woman have learned about personal safety and have self defense skills before something happens!

All of our classes in one way or another teach self defense to various degrees.  If you have specific needs and goals as to what you would like to accomplish and be able to do we can set up custom training specific to your needs.  This can be accomplished through either private or group training.

There are some common misconceptions with learning self defense, one of which is that it takes years to teach.  I disagree, I believe anyone can learn how to defend themselves and do so fairly quickly.  What I do is make that obvious to you and explain self defense in a way that makes sense.  There are stories all the time of people defending themselves without ever having formal training.  The benefit of training is that it just makes it easier and easier to defend yourself both mentally and physically the more you practice.  I stress the continuation of practicing self defense skills because you never know when you will need those skills.  We practice our self defense skills so that you will have them when you need them.

Self defense is as simple or as difficult as you make it.
Just talking to me and doing one day of training can help you overcome one of the obstacles in defending yourself.  Simply call me and schedule your first session.

Be Prepared
Just like any other skill, the more you practice the better you will become and the more prepared you will be.  These are skills that hopefully you will never need.  But wouldn’t you rather have them just in case?  Be prepared, be ready.  These skills, literally could save your life.

As a parent
As a parent, I know the desire to want to protect my child. Unfortunately, when it comes to learning self defense and building their awareness of the possible dangers out there.  Dangerous situations where it’s not a question of “if” they will face them, it’s a question of “when” they will.  Protecting them from knowing and learning self defense doesn’t do them any favors..

As a father myself..
As a father, I want my daughter to grow up knowing how to defend herself.  I know the statistics for young ladies and what they are up against these days and let me tell you, they are scary!  Parent’s if you have the opportunity to get some training for your kids before they leave for college, do it!  The college age for many reasons is statistically the most dangerous time in a persons life.  Contact me and see what’s possible before the time comes for them to leave home.  I’ve had many parent’s thank me for teaching their children self defense just for their own reassurance.

Questions & Concerns
If you have questions or concerns regarding personal safety, whether for yourself or for someone else.  Do not hesitate to call!  It is better to have the skills you need and not need them than need the skills and not have them.  If you are still thinking about it, you better call.
