A Brief History of Jujutsu
Old style Japanese Jujutsu can be traced back to the Muromachi period as early as 1333 AD. As the culture changed, so did the art. Jujutsu is the original system of martial art from which has lead to the creation of Aikido, Judo & Sambo and has had tremendous influence on other systems including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. BJJ was created when Mitsuyo Maeda traveled to Brazil to teach Judo, a system based on Jujutsu and shares many close similarities.
